Angel of God, my guardian dear
To whom God's love commits me here
Ever this day (night) be at my side
To light and guard, to rule and guide.
Amen
Main Points:
Sin is choosing to do or say or think something you know is wrong
Sin hurts our relationship with God and others
We must say sorry to God and each other
Reconciliation is one of the 7 Sacraments (review their names)
Reconciliation is a sacrament of love, forgiveness, and welcoming back
In Reconciliation we are sorry for our sins and celebrate God's forgiveness
Contrition, confession, penance and absolution are the parts of Reconciliation
Lesson Activity:
Talk about Zaccheus – “And when they saw it, they all murmured, saying, That he was gone to be guest with a man that is a sinner.” MAIN POINT – Jesus loves us even though we sin.
Discuss “What is sin?”
Describe Venial & Mortal
Do the “Is it a sin” worksheet & discuss each as you go.
If we sin, we can be forgiven through reconciliation. Like making up with a friend.
If time: “Have Faith” Zaccheus page
Stump your parents:
What sin cannot be forgiven? (None. All can be forgiven if you are truly sorry).
