Bible Verse:

John 1:1          In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.

Mark 13:31    Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will not pass away.

John 20:30        Now Jesus did many other signs in the presence of the disciples, which are not written in this book; 31 but these are written so that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that by believing you may have life in his name.

Main Points:

 

• The Bible is the revealed and written Word of God

• Has Old and New Testament, many books and authors

• Psalms = Songs in the bible, written by David.

• Gospels are in NT, Jesus life and teachings Gospel means “Good News”

• Open a Bible and look at books and chapters

• Be able to compare and contrast the books of the Bible

• We read from the Bible at Mass

Lesson Activity:

Discussion of main points

 God’s word guides us

Psalm 119: 105     Your word is a lamp for my feet, a light on my path.

Craft:  make a “flashlight” of God’s Word 

 

 

 

Stump your parents:

What are the 2 parts of the Bible?  Which part talks about Jesus?

What are the names of the Gospels?
