Prayer:

Act of Contrition – practice saying it so you are ready to say it during Sacrament of Reconciliation.  Check out the You Tube video of the song

Matthew 8:23-27             Jesus calms a Storm  

                   

Main Points:

​

  • Jesus is the Son of God who is with us to save us in times of trouble.

  • We are disciples of Jesus who call on him in the Sacrament of Reconciliation.

  • Our sins are forgiven and we are restored to peace when we receive absolution on the Sacrament of Reconciliation.

Opening prayer

  • Each child places a (paper) “boat” in the “lake” (sink).  Adults make wind storm & waves.

  • Are you scared that your boat will sink?

SEEK

Read and discuss           Matthew 8:23-27             Jesus calms a Storm                  

  • We are disciples – close followers of Jesus

  • What are some “storms” in our life?  Caused by what?  (Hard times, sad things, sin, etc.)

​

FIND

Relate the story to the Sacrament of Reconciliation

  • Our conscience is the knowledge we have within us of right and wrong.

  • When we sin, we feel bad.  There is a “storm” in our conscience.

  • Jesus saves us in the Sacrament of Reconciliation.  After we confess our sins and are given a penance, we are given absolution (forgiveness of our sins).
