Trust in Him - Jesus Calls disciples

Mass response:

Practice responses from Mass so that children learn what they are and what they mean and why we do them

Priest:  The Lord be with you.     All: And with your Spirit.
Deacon (or Priest): A reading from the Holy Gospel according to... [Matthew, Mark, Luke, or John]
All: Glory to you, Lord!
As we say this, we bless ourselves three times by making a small cross on our foreheads, on our lips and on our heart. By doing this, we are acknowledging that Christ is with us in our thoughts, in the words we speak, and in our hearts.
After the Gospel Proclamation:
Deacon (or Priest): The Gospel of the Lord.
All: Praise to you, Lord Jesus Christ!

Bible Verse:

John 15:26

“But when the Helper comes, whom I will send to you from the Father, the Spirit of truth, who proceeds from the Father, he will bear witness about me.

Prayer:

Gloria – Read the prayer and then lead into first part of lesson

Main Points:

This week, we learn about the Holy Trinity:   God the Father, Jesus the Son, and the Holy Spirit

Each person of God has tasks:

1st person:  God the Father loves and cares for us, with unconditional love, beyond that of any human parent.

2nd person:   Jesus, the Son of God, sets an example for us with his life and teachings.

3rd person:  God the Holy Spirit guides the Church and helps us to be holy.  The Holy Spirit gives us gifts to help us pray, and love God and others.  We receive the gift of the Holy Spirit at Baptism

Lesson Activity:

Discussion

  1. Teaching about the Gloria:  Learn what the “Glory Be” prayer means

  2. Discuss Symbols of the Holy Trinity:  Shamrock, braids (point out girls who are wearing braids), triangle, egg, apple, water, others?  One thing with 3 parts

  3. Each person of God has tasks:  Read “Guess How Much I love You” and relate it to how God the Father will always love us more than we can love him.

  4. Mystery Game – each little piece of paper (“clues” in the envelope) has a letter (or blank space) that matches a number on the mystery answer sheet.  Work in teams or individually.  Pick 5 “clues” at a time and see who can get

  5. Finish the shamrock craft

  6. Homework:  Holy Trinity Word Scramble / Fill in the blanks à start in class if there is extra time
